SEO FAQ's
Administration:
Q - When will my monthly billing start?
A -
The billing and setup of the service commences on the date that
you confirm the order with us.
Q - Can I ever freeze my account?
A -
Your account cannot be frozen at any time. We can cease billing
on your renewal date to recommence when you are ready to move on.
Q - How long will my results take to achieve?
A -
The amount of time it will take is hard to predict accurately.
Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of search engines efficiency
in finding the work that we set up. Changes to your site (as outlined
in your assessment) are found very quickly. Linking information
however, can be quite slow to update.
Our SEO link building team is fully trained in identifying
web sites that will speed up the search result listings for
your site. If we can secure some strong links early and the
search engines are quick to pick them up, then we should
start seeing results within 6-8 weeks from the commencement
of your link building.
If you have a new site your results on Google will probably
take 4-6 months to achieve. This is due to Google's algorithm
that now places web sites in a holding pen for this period.
When your Google results do come through they should roughly
match up with the results that have been achieved on Yahoo.
Q - Why are other sites currently ranking
higher than mine?
A -
The reason other sites are ranking higher than yours is mainly
due to the quality of links they have. Link quality is based on
how relative the incoming links are and how high the PageRank of
the link web page is. If the site has any expert links from educational
or government sites, this will also enhance their quality.
Link quality tends to spread out over a site, so just looking
at the links that point to a certain page is not an indication
of how good the link quality is for that site. In this way
it is very time consuming to measure the strength of your
competitors. Our best action to take is to continue building
up a good link network to your site. The stronger this network
is, the higher you will sit in the search results.
Link Networking:
Q - Why is link networking important?
A -
Link building is vital to top search engine positions.
Finding and establishing these links is a very tricky process.
Once links are established and search engines acknowledge them
pointing to your site, you will start to see your web site climb
in the results. On average we need at least 5 good links recognised
by search engines to achieve results. Additional links past 5 will
continue to improve your positioning.
Q - What is the importance of adding a
resource links page to my site?
A -
Your resource links page is important as it is needed
to build your link network. Our team handles locating top quality
links on your behalf. Once the links are found, you are notified
by email. Some of the sites found will require their link being
added to your resource page before contact is made regarding a
link exchange. By adding their link first, we greatly increase
the likely hood that they will link to your site.
It is important for your resource page to have the highest
PageRank possible. To achieve this, a small link to the resource
page is required from every main page on your site (especially
your home page). This link needs to be visible and should
appear as the other links do on your site.
Q - When will my link networking commence?
A -
Link building will commence within 3-5 days after we have
received your notification that your resource links page is available.
Q - Will all links on my resource page
be reciprocal?
A -
The links that will appear on your page will not all be
reciprocating. This is because we first need to add links to your
page before requesting reciprocation from other sites. This is
the most successful method to use in link networking.
Q - Will you be linking to my competitors?
A -
Sites that compete with yours will be suggested by our
link building team as being good links. This is because they are
in the same industry as your site and therefore will carry the
highest strength when search engines are calculating search results.
At any time, we can remove links that you are unhappy with.
Q - Does adding too many low quality links
to my site get penalised?
A -
Link networking needs to be very balanced to be effective. Basically
the number of outgoing links should not be more than double the
number of incoming links. For this reason it is beneficial not
to add links to your site that will have a low strength or will
not reciprocate back to you. In the first few months of link building,
we are building up your incoming links which usually will be out
of balance with the number of outgoing links we place on your page.
The link balance will correct itself as we progress.
There is an exception to this rule of balance. Linking to
expert or highly prominent web sites is OK if they are related
to your site. Expert sites are either government, educational
or sites belonging to large non-profit organisations. Prominent
sites are web site such as Microsoft and Google.
Google:
Q - What is the importance of the Google
PageRank?
A -
PageRank is important as it used by Google to determine
the quality of a web site. Having a high PageRank will result in
faster and more successful search engine positioning. The basic
requirements of a high PageRank are:
1. Good Web Site Structure - Structuring your site in a
simple and user-friendly fashion will add to your PageRank.
The highest PageRank possible for good structure is PageRank
3. To rank higher than a 3, you need good quality links pointing
to your site.
2. Good Quality Linking - Links from sites that are relevant
to your industry and also have a high PageRank will increase
your PageRank.
3. No SEO Cheating - Search engines are getting very clever
in detecting those sites that are attempting to thwart their
system. Penalties are allocated for sites suspected of cheating,
which impact directly on the Google PageRank.
Q - How long does it take Google to re
index a web site?
A -
The time it takes Google to index you site is usually
within 2 weeks. This time is quite variable at time and may be
up to 6 weeks. Once your site is indexed, Google will collect information
to use when calculating search results. The information that will
be used to place your site in the top positions, will be how many
and what is the quality of links pointing to your site. To measure
this takes a lot more time than indexing web pages. Once links
are established, it can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months
for them to be found. Links from pages with high PageRank's will
be found first, which is why PageRank is important when locating
other sites to link with.
Q - Is it possible to request Google to
speed up my indexing?
A -
There is no way of requesting special treatment from Google.
They find their own information in their own time. We are aware
of what they are looking for, so we make sure that we provide you
with the fastest way to get your web site into the top positions.
Yahoo:
Q - What is the benefit of a paid listing?
A -
Having a Yahoo listing will greatly improve your sites
ability to rank for high traffic searches on Google. Google considers
a link from Yahoo to be a top quality link as your site needs to
be approved by a Yahoo editor to be listed on their directory.
Hitslink Tracking Program:
Q - I already have a visitor tracking
program on my site.
A -
The Hitslink program can work in conjunction with other
tracking programs. We highly recommend adding the Hitslink tracker
as it will help the SEO process for your web site. |
